2008 Hang Drum – Perfect Tune – The Real Thing

This is an authentic Integral Hang – also known as a hang drum, hang hang, or hang sound sculpture.

If you are looking at this instrument you likely already know about its sound. You probably also know that the integral hang is the finest, most advanced expression of the hang. There is nothing that compares to the sound of this instrument. The connection between the player and the instrument and the music and the listener is magical.

Each note sounds clear. The metal shows the obvious labor of hand making and is handsome and unique. The ding does have an irregular shape, but that is how it was produced and it sounds perfect.

The tone circle from largest to smallest is: B, D, F, A, E, C#, A and the ding is a D

Further, the makers of the hang may or may not continue to make them. Periodically they publish a letter on the status of their continued labors. The last letter they published in November of 2009 indicated they were moving in the direction of producing them only for sound therapy. It is not clear what this will mean, but they elude to a new Free Integral Hang. This likely means that this particular Integral Hang will be a collectors piece as the hangs become more difficult to acquire and the ones that are produced in the future may not be available to the public (regardless of waiting) or may be tuned to a less musical scale.
